SPRING AcuYin Bliss for Liver and Gallbladder Meridians
Location: Radiance Yoga in Old Town Alexandria
Date: Friday, May 10, 2019
Time: 7:00pm-9:00pm
Cost: $60
AcuYin Bliss for the Liver and Gallbladder Meridians is a two-hour workshop, which includes sixty minutes of a focused Yin Yoga practice followed by a healing ear acupuncture treatment received during savasana. The spirit of the Liver is responsible for vision, imagination, direction, decision-making and benevolence. Emotional and physical symptoms of an imbalance in these meridians include anger, frustration, impatience, moodiness, difficulty making decisions, indigestion, abdominal bloating, difficulty losing body fat, dizziness, blurred vision, pain along the IT band, headaches and depression.
Yin yoga is a practice where one holds asanas or shapes for anywhere between three to five minutes working into the deep connective tissues of the body. This practice works with the Meridian energy lines of the body by unlocking the fascia. Yin yoga increases mobility and flexibility in the joints and in the connective tissue of the body. Physically this practice will open up the inner and outer hips. Ear Acupuncture has a long history of use in China and is a complete medical system in Chinese Medicine. It was mentioned in the most famous of ancient Chinese medical textbooks, “The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine.” In modern times, auricular therapy has been shown to stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's own feel-good chemicals. Your savasana will include one or two acupuncture needles in each ear. These auricular points help to alleviate stress and anxiety while aiding to balance one’s energy. Please be sure to eat prior to our class. Class size is limited. Register early to guarantee a spot.

Summer Solstice 108 Celebration
Location: Radiance Yoga in Old Town Alexandria
Date: June 21, 2019
Time: 7:00pm-9:00pm
Cost: $20 (for a local charity)
Kick off the summer with several Radiance teachers and salute the sun with 108 Sun Salutations!
The celebration of 108 Sun Salutations is traditionally held at the changing of the seasons: The Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox, Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
Why 108?
108 is a number that holds great significance in India. In Ayurvedic Medicine, there are said to be 108 energy lines converging to form the heart chakra. In Sanskrit, there are 54 letters in the alphabet, each having a masculine (Shiva) and a feminine (Shakti), totaling 108 alphabetic representations. There are even 108 stitches on a baseball!
Why the Summer Solstice?
The Summer Solstice is the longest daylight day of the year. At the Summer Solstice, the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, symbolizing light, intensity, renewal and inspiring us to reach our highest potential.
Do I have to do all 108?
Of course not! Like any yoga practice, take what you love and leave the rest! Find your flow: Do 1 Sun Salute, do 2, take a siesta in Child's Pose, and then meet back up with us when you're ready!
Join us in welcoming the first day of summer, and the longest day of the year!
*All proceeds will go to a local charitable organization.
